The Merchant of Echoes
A Gothic Americana Concept Album on Epistemic Traps, Algorithmic Rage, and Shared Humanity
At its core, The Merchant of Echoes relies on a mythic 19th-century allegorical figure: a traveling salesman whose ornate wooden wagon is covered with mirrored panels. He does not peddle snake oil or patent tonics; he sells the community their own pre-existing fears, flattering illusions, and manufactured validation.
He accepts no gold coin. His sole currency is "Heat"—the visceral five-fold multiplier of outrage and anger documented in the Facebook Papers. Spanning 12 master tracks driven by acoustic guitar, weeping cello, and stomping percussion, the album traces the town's descent from comforting echo chambers into the Gish Gallop, the heartbreaking silence of divided family dinners, the marching frenzy of street radicalization, and the quiet dawn realization that "monsters remain human."
